Have you ever felt God speaking to you, telling you to do something for Him, but find it difficult to obey Him because you don’t think you have what it takes to complete what He is asking of you?
God does still speak to us. And He wants us to obey when He tells us to do something.
Just as my child can be disobedient towards me, we as children of God can be disobedient to Him.
Just as we discipline our children when they disobey or reward them when they obey, God will discipline or reward us, based on our reaction to what He is calling us to do.
And if there is something He really wants us to do, and we don’t pursue what He is calling us to do, then He will keep finding ways to speak to us until we hear Him and submit to obedience. Or if we continue to ignore God’s calling for us, He will give it to someone else instead of us.
I wanted to shut down this blog.
I did, I really did.
With homeschooling and some other things, I felt I had taken on WAY too much, so I decided to give up on the blog for my own sanity.
But for the past few months, God made it pretty clear to me that He wants me writing this blog.
It is my passion to help people, in any way I can… And I love to write.
Writing in any form is my passion!
My passion is a gift from God Himself.
Writing is a gift He wants me to use for Him.
God has been so incredibly faithful to me, that it is hard not to trust Him or be in complete awe of Him.
I want to do something for Him that shows my love for Him, to bring all the praise and glory to Him for this gift, and for the trials and the good times He has brought me through.
I have been through some awful things and some wonderful things, and the only reason I made it out of those awful things was because of God and God alone…
Who wouldn’t want to write about and share the wonderful, amazing God who completely changed their life for the better?
My life is not perfect, by any means, but I have a perfect Savior at the center of it who makes all the trials worth it.
Even if you don’t feel you have what it takes to do what God is calling you to do, He will supply what you need to do it.
I didn’t feel I had the time, energy, education, etc. to do what God wanted me to. But then I sat back and took a long hard look at my schedule and my life.
When setting aside time for the blog, God will give me the energy and focus I need to write.
God will show me the experiences that I have been through so that I can use them to help others.
And if I invest the time, God will give me the words and the knowledge that I need to write these blog posts.
God has shown us in the Bible that when He called someone to do something for Him, He supplied them with EVERYTHING they needed.
And if they didn’t obey Him, they paid the consequences for it.
Take the example of Jonah.
Jonah was called to go share God’s message with the Ninevites. (Jonah 1:1-2)
Instead of going where God wanted him to, he got on a boat and headed the opposite direction. (Jonah 1:3)
Do you know where Jonah ended up?
In the belly of a large fish, for three days and three nights. (Jonah 1:17)
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to end up in the belly of ANYTHING before I decide to obey God’s calling for me!
Yes, I have been ignoring it for months. Putting it off. Asking God to give me more time.
God’s timing is ALWAYS perfect.
God told me to do something. I should obey and do it when He tells me to.
Not keep putting it off until I think I am ready to obey.
God calls for immediate obedience, not postponing it until you think you are ready.
God will provide exactly what you need for the job He is calling you to do.
Just as an employer provides you with everything you need for a job, God will provide you with everything for His calling in your life.
Another example I love of someone following God’s Will for their lives would be:
Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Mary was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph when an angel came to her in Luke 1: 26-38.
At first, Mary questioned the angel, Gabriel, telling him that she was a virgin, so how could it be that she was going to give birth to a baby?
(I don’t know about you, but I think I would have questioned that too.)
Gabriel told her exactly how she would conceive the Baby that would be born to her.
He ended by telling her, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37)
In verse 38 she submits to God’s Will for her life by saying that she was the “Lord’s servant” and that it “May be done to me as you have said.”
After submitting to God’s Will for her life, Mary went to visit Elizabeth. While there, Elizabeth said to her, “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Luke 1:45(KJV)
If Mary was able to accept the Lord’s Will for her life and say “I am the Lord’s servant”, then what is keeping me from saying the same thing to Him?
I like to take the words from Elizabeth to Mary personally…
“Blessed am I who believed that what the Lord had said to me will be accomplished!”
Isn’t that wonderful news?
When we walk in obedience to Christ and answer our calling, we will be blessed for believing that what God wants to accomplish through our lives will be done.
Mary is only one example of someone who listened to God right away and was blessed.
If you take the time to read the Bible, you will find MANY more examples of those who obeyed their calling from God and succeeded in life and were blessed beyond measure!
Is there something God is calling you to do that you have been putting off, or just ignoring all together?
